I suppose the distinction between bounded and open-ended isn't as clear cut as I make it out to be. My point is that, while an agent may pursue a strategy of diversification in the service of completing a task -- much like a search application might convert a broad query into a set of narrower subqueries -- that is not the same as the open-ended exploration a human searcher can perform, unconstrained by the original query intent.
